Party at Felipe’s for Cinco de Mayo

The Top 5 Reasons You Should Come Party at Felipe’s for Cinco de Mayo:

  1. Live Music: Liven up your Thursday evening and come shake it to Merengue 4 playing Latin and pop dance grooves from 7 to 11 pm in the Mid-City breezeway.
  2. Felipe’s Swag: have you ever heard of Loteria, the Mexican bingo game? Well, now you have! Come and test your luck at Felipe’s Mid City. If you win, you’ll be taking home some fun Felipe’s swag like T-shirts, gift cards, and koozies.
  3. Feel good about helping a good cause: in case you didn’t know, Felipe’s has a close partnership with Puentes Latinola, the non-profit organization that supports the inclusion of Latinos in public, political, and socio-economic life in New Orleans. We’re partnering with them for Give NOLA day on May 3rd, and we’ll also be hosting raffles and a silent auction at our Cinco De Mayo party at Mid-City to fundraise even more for this important local organization.
  4. Margaritas:  Frozen or on the rocks, there’s nowhere you can get a better margarita than Felipe’s. They’re fresh squeezed, they’re strong, and they’re always made with 100% blue agave tequila. We’ll even have outdoor bars set up at some locations so to keep the lines short and the service fast.
  5. Giveaways: Who doesn’t like free stuff?! Whether you win at Loteria or not, you’ll be heading home with some fun and silly party favors courtesy of Felipe’s. From sunglasses to fake mustaches to mini sombreros, you will have plenty to remind you on Seis de Mayo of all of the fun you had on Cinco!

There are so many more reasons why you should join us at Felipe’s for Cinco de Mayo, but you’ll have to find out what those are for yourself.

History of Cinco de Mayo

The Battle of Puebla, which took place on May 5, 1862, was a battle between Mexico and France, in an effort for France to establish a satellite state in Mexico. General Ignacio Zaragoza lead the Mexican side to victory–a historic event which is now celebrated worldwide as “Cinco De Mayo”.

As a loyal Felipe’s follower, you know that we keep all of our food fresh and authentic. Our Chicken Tinga is especially authentic, hailing from Puebla, Mexico. In Puebla and other parts of Mexico, Tinga is a dish made with shredded chicken in a sauce of tomatoes, chipotle peppers, and onions. You don’t have to travel south of the border to get those zesty flavors though, because at Felipe’s, our Tinga is no different.

The Chicken Tinga is great no matter what you put it in, but we think it goes best in a super burrito with beans, rice, cabbage slaw, crema, and guacamole. Want an extra kick? Add in some pickled jalapenos and take it to the next level.

We hope you stop in on Cinco De Mayo to celebrate Mexico’s victory with some Chicken Tinga! We’ll be having fun and unique celebrations at each Felipe’s location–just check our social media platforms for more information!

Go Vegan for a Day

On April 5th, The Humane Society of Louisiana is encouraging people to go vegan for a day! We think that this initiative is really cool, and we’re excited to share our vegan options that you can get not only on Tuesday, but every day of the year!

Our favorite vegan dish at Felipe’s is the Vegan Super Burrito. This bad boy is filled with grilled veggies and extra beans and topped some cabbage slaw, pico de gallo, guacamollio sauce, and pickled jalapenos. It’s then all wrapped up in a warm and soft flour tortilla just for your enjoyment. The best part about Felipe’s is that our dishes are completely customizable. No matter your allergy, sensitivity, or preference, we can accommodate it and deliver you some of the freshest and most authentic mexican food.

Recently, we were lucky enough to sit down with a loyal customer who happens to be pescatarian. Ashton said that he loved coming to Felipe’s because he knows that he always has several options. He can order the fried fish or shrimp on nachos, tacos, or in a burrito or taco salad. We know that having dietary restrictions can be hard, but we also know that if you come to Felipe’s we’ll serve you up something delicious. Stop by and let us fix you up something good…

You can find more information about the day and the initiative here.
